Gonzalo Garcia became the undisputed talking point across Madrid after his sensational performance against Real Betis, where Real Madrid cruised to a dominant 5-1 victory.
It was not just a big night for the team, but a defining moment in the young striker’s career.
Gonzalo did far more than simply score goals. He overwhelmed Betis with a ruthless display of finishing, completing a perfect hat-trick that showcased every weapon in his arsenal.
One goal came with his head, another with his right foot, and the third with his left.
It was a rare achievement, one that had not been seen in a Real Madrid shirt since Rodrygo managed the same feat back in 2019.
The Bernabeu crowd quickly realised they were witnessing something special, responding with growing excitement as the night unfolded.
Naturally, Gonzalo’s breakout performance sparked reactions from those who know what it takes to succeed at Real Madrid.
Among them was former Madrid striker Joselu, whose words carried particular weight given his recent experience at the club.
A product of the youth academy himself, Joselu returned to Real Madrid for the 2023/24 season and carved out an important role as an impact player off the bench, enjoying a highly productive campaign.

As such, Joselu worked closely with Gonzalo at Valdebebas and had a front-row seat to his development.
Reflecting on the striker’s rise and the qualities that stood out even back then, Joselu explained what he noticed during training sessions and why Gonzalo’s success does not surprise him at all:
“I said it back then – when he was training with us, you could see that his greatest strength as a striker was his nose for goal.
“What I like most about him is his love for Real Madrid. At the end of the day, he’s a player who feels the colours, and that shows in every game he plays.
“He gives his all for the badge. Ever since he came up to work with us, you could see that he’s a guy with a lot of qualities and an impressive nose for goal.
“Ultimately, to succeed at Real Madrid, apart from having footballing qualities, you have to feel it, and I think Gonzalo is a guy who, from the moment I saw him working with us, showed flashes of brilliance in training.
“I’m not surprised at all, I’m very happy for everything he’s achieving and for his success at the club,” he commented.
