When Real Madrid began hunting for midfield targets to bolster the position ahead of next season, it did not take long for the name of Nico Paz to reappear on their radar.

A product of the Merengues’ academy himself, the player left the club in search of first-team minutes and joined Como last summer. Since then, he has not looked back.

Nico’s sensational growth at the Italian club, needless to say, has tempted Real Madrid to take him back and give him a chance under a manager who truly believes in young talents.

Real Madrid target speaks

Speaking to the media on duty with the Argentine national team, the former Real Madrid ace was asked about a possible return to Real Madrid this summer.

The player, however, gave away nothing and did not even seem convinced about the option of moving back to the Spanish giants as he calmly deflected the topic and put the matter to bed.

“I’m calm, thinking about the selection, the holidays, and then, we will see whatever has to happen,” he said via Mundo Deportivo.

Nico is being considered as the ideal addition to Alonso’s squad at Real Madrid, more so considering that he can be brought back for just €8 million.

However, Nico is rumoured to be having doubts over whether or not a move to Real Madrid would be ideal at this point in his career.

The Argentine star fears minutes could be hard to come by should he opt to return home this summer, especially with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Dani Ceballos, Arda Guler, and others all fighting for a spot already.

Nico has been having a sensational season in Italy under Cesc Fabregas and has been developing at a wonderful rate given the continuity he is enjoying. It remains to be seen what he decides in the coming weeks.
