Chivu is the more reflective of the pair, calm, measured and constantly seeking the right emotional balance.

Kolarov, by contrast, is more instinctive and impulsive, quick to inject adrenaline into those around him.

Together those traits balance each other out. On Sunday, however, only one of them will be in the dugout.

For Kolarov, this represents his first senior club touchline experience.

He previously managed Serbia’s under-21 side for five games, but the Franchi marks a different stage entirely.

Corriere note that the former defender has never been comfortable with office life, indeed, it is precisely that restlessness that brought him back to the training pitch.
