Former Spurs fan favourite finds new club

Over the last few weeks, it was vastly reported that former Spurs midfielder Dele Alli was training with Serie A newcomers Como, who got promoted from last year's Serie B campaign to return to the summit of Italian football for the first time in twenty one years. Dele, who is still only 28-years-old, was last at Everton and a season-long-loan spell in Turkey at Besiktas. Spells which went far from what was planned for the Englishman, where he only made ten starts out in Istanbul, scoring twice, and just the nine starts with a solitary goal for the Toffees across two seasons.

Former favourite Dele has found himself a club in Italy

It's been no secret that Dele has had off the pitch issues, with him bravely going on Gary Neville's podcast 'The Overlap' in July 2023, where he spoke about some of the things he went through growing up as a child and other situations which might have stalled his football career over the last few years.

Como seems like a fantastic place for Dele to get his career up and running again. Under the management of former Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas. An excellent midfielder who could score and create goals to such a high level, so you'd think he's someone who will understand Dele's game and try to get the best out of him. Como currently sit 17th in the Serie A table, just one place above the drop zone on goal difference, so he'll have to play a big part in helping the club retain their top flight status.

'I Biancoblu' (meaning the blue and whites) picked up a big win over Udinese last night, meaning Dele comes into a confident side. He has signed a deal that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2026, with a further 12-month option if he and the club can agree at the end of the contract.

Let's hope Dele can get his career back on track and potentially makes his way back in the England squad at a club on the up & managed by one of the best midfielders in the game's modern history, also located in a lovely part of the world to say the least. A permanent home outside of the limelight of the Premier League and English football could be what Dele needs not only for his football career, but for his personal life and happiness as well.
