The former Atlas Lions international goalkeeper, Khalid Fouhami (52), spoke to the press about the performances of the goalkeepers fielded by Morocco at the recent U-20 World Cup held in Chile.
The former Nahdat Zemamra and Rapide Oued Zem coach told Al Ain Sport: “Benchaouch is a complete goalkeeper, blessed with excellent qualities, especially in terms of reflexes and reading the game. He still has plenty of room for improvement and can reach an even higher level as he gains more experience.”
He added: “Ibrahim Gomis is also a promising talent. He showed great character and managed to keep a clean sheet against France, despite heavy pressure on the Moroccan defense.”
Fouhami concluded: “Hakim Mesbahi has made his mark and can continue to progress if he gets more playing time with his club, AS FAR.”
Fouhami also expressed his admiration for three young Moroccan talents, believing they have the potential to shine with the senior national team in the coming years.
He specified: “I am impressed by striker Yassir Zabiri, his pace and intelligent movement constantly unsettle opponents. Left winger Gessime Yassine has remarkable potential. As for goalkeeper Yanis Benchaouch, he possesses all the qualities needed to become the heir to Yassine Bounou in the future.”
