Some of the top Premier League clubs will be playing their League Cup fixtures on Wednesday.

Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool are expected to rest their best players, allowing fringe stars to make their cases for more Premier League opportunities.

We look at four players who will be desperate to perform well tonight.

Ethan Nwaneri – Arsenal

Ethan Nwaneri scored nine goals in 37 senior appearances last season..

He has started only once this term, against Port Vale in the previous round of the Carabao Cup

The exciting youngster will be eager to show just how good he is when the Gunners welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Rayan Cherki – Manchester City

Rayan Cherki is regarded as one of the most technically gifted footballers in the Premier League, but he has started only once for Manchester City since joining from Lyon this summer

An injury issue kept Cherki sidelined for seven games before Pep Guardiola brought him off the bench in City’s last two league fixtures against Everton and Aston Villa.

The forward will likely start against Swansea City, and he will be keen to make an impact.

Federico Chiesa – Liverpool

Federico Chiesa has been sparingly used by manager Arne Slot this season. The winger’s seven league appearances have all come off the bench.

With Liverpool struggling at the moment, every player in Slot’s starting XI is vulnerable.

This is the perfect time for Chiesa to show his ability by producing a statement display against Crystal Palace

Anthony Elanga – Newcastle United

Anthony Elanga has failed to make an impact since joining Newcastle United for £55 million in July

Manager Eddie Howe took him off at half-time against Brighton, and he was benched for the last two matches against Benfica and Fulham.

Elanga is expected to start against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, and he will be eager to showcase his skills in front of the home supporters.
