France climb to second in FIFA rankings after 2-1 win over Brazil

France moved up to second in the FIFA rankings after a 2-1 friendly win over Brazil in Foxborough, United States, on Thursday night.
According to L'Équipe, the result lifts Didier Deschamps' side above Argentina, a spot the pair have contested since late 2025. Brazil, led by Carlo Ancelotti, cede fifth place to Portugal after losing despite a numerical advantage.
Argentina, the reigning world champions, can claw back points overnight when they meet Mauritania, kick-off 00:15. Lionel Messi and his team then face Zambia.
France will try to defend second place against Colombia on Sunday at 21:00.
Spain lead on 1877.18 points, with France on 1873.96 and Argentina on 1873.33. England are fourth with 1834.12, Portugal fifth on 1760.38, Brazil sixth with 1756.49, the Netherlands seventh on 1756.27, Morocco eighth with 1754.59, Belgium ninth on 1730.71 and Germany 10th with 1724.15.
