France hold minute’s silence for the mother of Didier Deschamps before training at the World Cup | OneFootball

The France squad observed a minute’s silence before training on Tuesday in memory of the mother of Didier Deschamps, whose death the French Football Federation announced that day.

It came a day after France beat Iraq 3-0 in Philadelphia.

Deschamps has returned to France to join his family and attend the funeral.

The national team will spend Wednesday behind closed doors and will not hold a press conference.

In his absence, assistant Guy Stéphan will take charge until he returns, and Deschamps will not lead the side on Friday against Norway, a decisive match for first place in Group I.
