France players have been allowed to welcome family and friends to their Boston hotel in the evenings during the World Cup, with further downtime planned after they face Norway on Friday at 21:00.
According to L'Équipe, after a rest evening between the 3-1 win over Senegal and the 3-0 victory against Iraq, relatives in Boston were permitted to visit the Four Seasons in the city centre.
Players have received visitors in recent days without leaving the hotel or staying up late, a rare concession from the France staff. With the Norway match in the Boston suburbs, the delegation will be able to return quickly and join light activities.
A hotel brunch with families is scheduled for Saturday until 14:00 to break the routine as the tournament wears on. Aurélien Tchouaméni said the days could have felt longer without the team’s current atmosphere, noting they spend time together and have plenty of gym work and treatments, so time passes quickly and the group feels good.
The vice-captain played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while newcomers are adjusting to a set-up unlike club life. Senior players are monitoring morale. After a little over two weeks in the United States, the squad appear to have found their rhythm and Didier Deschamps has shown flexibility by opening up when needed.
