France should play their World Cup opener against Senegal in milder conditions than first forecast on Tuesday, with kick-off at nine pm.

According to L'Équipe, the game in East Rutherford, scheduled for three pm local time, could be played in temperatures between 21 and 26°C, a slight drop from Sunday’s projection of between 25 and 27°C.

The heat is expected to be less intense than in Boston for Les Bleus. Since arriving in the United States, they have trained in high temperatures between 28 and 34°C.

France begin their campaign at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, on the outskirts of New York.

They then face Iraq at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Monday at 11pm, followed by Norway at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston, on 26 June at nine pm. Les Bleus could be among the teams who suffer most from the heat.
