Mehdi Taremi will start for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They also report that Marcus Thuram will be fit enough to be on the bench for the match.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has had to work around an injury to Marcus Thuram in planning his team selection for the Supercoppa Italiana final.
Striker Thuram picked up a thigh problem during the semifinal against Atalanta.
This forced the 27-year-old off at halftime. And then medical tests confirmed that Thuram had suffered a slight elongation of the adductor muscles in his left thigh.
Therefore, Thuram will not be able to start tomorrow.
Thuram will, however, be ready to be on the bench tomorrow.
The Frenchman’s injury was not a major one. Therefore, he has recovered in time to be part of the squad for the Supercoppa final against the Rossoneri.
However, Thuram certainly will not be able to start the match.
Therefore, Inter coach Inzaghi will have to find another solution as far as a starting strike partner for captain Lautaro Martinez.
The Nerazzurri coach has considered Mehdi Taremi and Joaquin Correa for the role.
But according to Sky, it will be Taremi who gets the nod. The Iranian is the player who replaced Thuram for the second half of the semifinal against Atalanta.
