Ousmane Dembélé (28) has won the 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or France Football at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet. The France and PSG striker pipped FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal to world football’s greatest individual prize. Dembélé is the first Ligue 1 player to win the Ballon d’Or since PSG’s Lionel Messi in 2023.

Dembélé’s triumph, a deserved accolade given his crucial role in leading PSG to their maiden Champions League title in May, also means that France has gone level with Argentina for most Ballon d’Or wins. France and Argentina have both accrued eight Ballon d’Or accolades.

Lionel Messi has clinched Argentina’s all eight Ballon d’Or whereas France boast six different winners with Raymond Kopa, Michel Platini, Jean-Pierre Papin, Zinédine Zidane, Karim Benzema, and now, Ousmane Dembélé. No country has more different Ballon d’Or winners than France.
