Francesco Totti could return to Roma in an ambassador-adviser capacity, Corriere dello Sport reports. It would come five years after his retirement and emotional farewell to the club.

The 49-year-old, who made 787 appearances and scored 307 goals for Roma, could take on a role similar to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's at AC Milan. He would straddle advisory and spokesperson duties.

His remit would be to act as a bridge between the club, coach Gasperini, and the academy.

If confirmed, Roma would announce the appointment at the end of March, with the position set to begin next season.

News of a potential return has delighted Roma supporters on social media. The club are currently fifth in Serie A and face Bologna in the Europa League round of 16 first leg on Thursday at 18:45.
