Franck Haise has left Nice after a season and a half, his exit agreed on Sunday night following days of talks and months of misalignment with Ineos.

According to L'Équipe, new president Jean-Pierre Rivère, back for a third spell on 19 December, later told him a change would be best and that Ineos could not meet his recruitment demands.

Haise delivered fourth place in his first campaign, then endured five brutal months, with nine straight defeats across competitions between one November and 14 December and a French club record 18 European games without a win, 16 under him. A 2-1 Coupe de France win over Saint-Étienne offered brief respite.

His second season fractured relationships with former president Fabrice Bocquet, sporting director Florian Maurice and sections of the squad after he labelled their level ordinary. He saw Marcin Bulka, Evann Guessand, Gaëtan Laborde and, to a lesser extent, Badredine Bouanani depart, and though the window disappointed, he had approved most arrivals, so responsibility was shared.

He floated leaving in mid November, briefly offered to resign between the 1-3 defeat at Lorient and the 0-1 loss to Angers, and even urged Bocquet and Maurice to go with him. Rivère initially backed him, then proposed change. Haise exits despite a deal to June 2029, a deflating end to a promising start in 2024.
