François Letexier to referee Benfica v Real Madrid Champions League play-off first leg | OneFootball

UEFA confirmed François Letexier will take charge of the Champions League play-off first leg between Benfica and Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The French official will lead an all-French on-field team, with Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni as assistants and Jérémie Pignard as fourth official.

Jérôme Brisard has been assigned as VAR for Benfica v Real Madrid, with Jarred Gillett as AVAR.

It is the second Benfica match Letexier has overseen within a year. He refereed the Club World Cup group game in which Benfica beat Bayern Munich 1-0, Andreas Schjelderup scoring.

Fresh from overcoming Santa Clara, Benfica, who could have Lukebakio back, begin preparations for Madrid. José Mourinho and a first-team player will preview the tie on Monday, 16 February at 14:00, with kick-off on Wednesday, 17 February at 20:00.
