Tottenham Hotspur claimed a resounding 3-0 win over Slavia Prague last night, moving them up to ninth in the Champions League standings.

Spurs took an early lead via an own goal before penalties from Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons secured a much-needed victory.

Tottenham carried on the performance from the weekend win over Brentford into this tie, looking sharper, more organised and incisive.

Simons scored and delivered a terrific performance. Manager Thomas Frank praised him during his post-match press conference.

Frank said (via football.london), “I think he built on the good game on Saturday, produced again, I would say.

“Good link-up play, nice turns in the middle of the pitch, where he also got that acceleration to go past the player and open up the spaces. I also like his work ethic.

“For example, there was a great recovery run in ninety-plus minutes where he just got all the way back, which is crucial for me, for us, for everyone, to work very hard.

“So I like his overall performance.”

Simons was awarded an 8/10 rating by the same media outlet, who praised him for making Spurs ‘look so much more progressive and dangerous.’

The Dutchman arrived with so much promise, and after a wretched run, he is now delivering the goods.

The 22-year-old will hope to continue this rich vein of form when Tottenham travel to Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Sean Dyche’s teams are notoriously hard to break down, and the former RB Leipzig star needs to continue in the same vein.
