Frederic Massara auditioned to become Marseille’s new sporting director | OneFootball

Frederic Massara is reported to have been interviewed by Mehdi Benatia for the role of Olympique de Marseille’s next sporting director, according to Foot Mercato.

Currently in charge at AS Roma, the 57-year-old executive is not expected to keep his position beyond the current season. Familiar with Ligue 1, a league in which he previously worked with Stade Rennais – where he had a run of unsuccessful signings (Andrés Gomez, Henrik Meister, Jota and Leo Østigård) – Massara could well return to France in the coming weeks.

He, in any case, is said to be very interested in the role, although no concrete steps have yet been taken.

Yet another option, then, for OM, who are currently struggling to find the right candidate, whilst Julien Fournier has already met with Marseille’s decision-makers and former Juventus man Cristiano Giuntoli, although interested in the project, is reportedly still being heavily courted by Newcastle and Roma as a replacement for… Massara.
