Freiburg

Freiburg continue to defy expectations under Julian Schuster, maintaining momentum both domestically and in Europe despite their modest resources. Last season's fifth-place finish secured Europa League football, and they have made a solid start with four points in two matches in the competition.

Domestically, Freiburg are unbeaten in four matches, with victories over Stuttgart and Werder Bremen, followed by draws against Hoffenheim and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Their form at home has been strong too, with two wins, one draw and one defeat.

Team News

Freiburg remain without young forward Cyriaque Irie, who has been sidelined since August, while long-term absentee Daniel-Kofi Kyereh continues his lengthy recovery from a serious knee injury.

Junior Adamu, who has four goal contributions in as many matches, could lead the line once again.

Predicted lineup - 4-2-3-1: Atubolu - Treu, Ginter, Lienhart, Makengo - Eggestein, Osterhage - Beste, Manzambi, Grifo - Adamu

Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt’s form has nosedived in recent weeks, with four defeats in their last six across all competitions and three in their last four Bundesliga matches.

Defensive frailties have been their undoing, conceding 14 goals in four league games before the international break, including a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich.

Toppmöller’s side have also endured defeats against Atlético Madrid, Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen, though they will take heart from their recent record against Freiburg - winning each of the last two meetings.

Team News

Jessic Ngankam remains out with a long-term leg injury, while young defender Elias Baum is unavailable as he continues his recovery from a knock sustained on international duty last year. Jonathan Burkardt, who has scored five goals in his last five outings, is expected to spearhead the attack once more.

Predicted lineup - 4-2-3-1: Santos - Kristensen, Koch, Theate, Brown - Larsson, Chaibi - Doan, Uzun, Bahoya - Burkardt
