Mika Godts’ transfer from Ajax to PSG has been met with great enthusiasm in the French capital, with media outlets excited for the Belgian’s debut.

Godts, 21, sealed his summer switch to Ligue 1 with a reported package deal worth over €55 million. A player for the future as much as this season after last term’s Eredivisie breakout, Godts signed a five-year contract with the Parisians.

Already, the local media have taken to the transfer fondly. “After Ferran Torres (from Barcelona), PSG continues its reinforcement offensive with the arrival of Mika Godts,” reports RMC Sport. “He has had a very impressive season at Ajax, where he scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists in the past Eredivisie season. After showing his talent only sporadically since April 2023, the date of his debut for Ajax, the man from Leuven finally broke through last season.”

According to Le Parisien, “This transfer is part of a forward-looking strategy aimed at bringing young, promising talent to Paris. Mika Godts is expected to play a role this season and quickly demonstrate his qualities to the team. Le Figaro also has high expectations for Godts, seeing his arrival help combat recent exits. “With the arrival of this efficient and lightning-fast dribbler, PSG compensates for the departures of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and Lee Kang-In to Atletico Madrid. The Belgian could also be the intended replacement for Bradley Barcola, should the Frenchman leave for Liverpool.”
