FC Barcelona took on Slavia Praha in the Champions League last night in a game they needed to win at all costs. Although it was not always straightforward, Hansi Flick’s men had too much ammunition for the Czech club to handle.
It was a cold night at the Fortuna Arena, which did not make matters easier for Barcelona. Despite travelling a day early to train and acclimatise, it was clear that many of the players were struggling to get going.
The first half ended level at 2-2, with Barcelona conceding two set-piece goals that cancelled out a brace from Fermin Lopez. In the second half, Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo turned the screws to make it 4-2 and seal a comfortable win for Flick.
With all this in mind, here are Sempre Barca’s ratings for the Barcelona players from their win over Slavia Praha in the Champions League.
Player ratings:
Joan Garcia: 7.0There was not much Joan could have done for either goal, although he did his best to keep the first out. Beyond that, he made a couple of good saves and was calm as ever with the ball at his feet.
Jules Kounde: 5.0Something is not right with Kounde. The Frenchman had yet another night this season when he simply did not seem fully switched on. He struggled both offensively and defensively and was a liability for Barcelona against Slavia.
Eric Garcia: 8.5What a player. When Barcelona looked second best in the opening 15 minutes, Eric took matters into his own hands and dragged the team back into it. Excellent with the ball and intelligent without it, he continues to grow with every game.
Gerard Martin: 7.5Started poorly, missing clearances and looking hurried defensively, but he grew into the game admirably. Shifted to left-back late on and delivered a decent display, all things considered.
Alejandro Balde: 6.5A typical Balde performance: plenty of pace and athleticism down the left and decent one-on-one defending, but his end product remains close to non-existent.
Frenkie de Jong: 9.0An absolute masterclass from the Dutchman. On a night when Pedri was not at his best, Frenkie took charge and ran the show. Booked late on, which means he will miss the Copenhagen game. Finished with an assist to his name.
Pedri: 6.0It is not often Pedri gets a 6/10, but from the first whistle he did not look himself. He struggled throughout the first half and pulled his hamstring close to the hour mark, much to Flick’s frustration. Substituted.
Fermin Lopez: 9.0What a G/A machine Fermin is turning into. Xavi Hernandez deserves more credit for identifying his talent when few did. Two excellently taken goals on the night, making it 20 G/A this season and nine since the start of 2026.
Raphinha: 6.5Barcelona got the usual intensity and pressing, but his influence on the game was minimal. With Lamine absent, one might have expected the opposite. It is rare that the team score four and the Brazilian is not on the scoresheet.
Roony Bardghji: 6.0Roony struggled, especially with Kounde offering him no support whatsoever. Unlike his recent displays, he could not fashion much and was understandably taken off around the hour mark.
Robert Lewandowski: 7.0Played the full game for one of the few times this season, and his performance is hard to assess. His hold-up play was good, but his first touch often let him down. Even for his goal, he took a poor first touch, then finished in a way very few could to open his Champions League account this season. He also scored an own goal.
Substitutes:
Dani Olmo: 8.0Came on for the injured Pedri and, with one of his first touches, scored a sublime goal. A strike that showcased his quality. Looked tidy throughout and pushed on once Fermin went off.
Marcus Rashford: 7.5A purposeful cameo, always looking forward when he received the ball. Supplied a well-deserved assist for Lewandowski.
