Frenkie de Jong is reportedly set to make his comeback at Barcelona. The Dutchman has been included in the Catalans’ squad for Thursday’s Champions League match at Newcastle United.
De Jong was injured during the international break and was sidelined for the Netherlands’ closely-run match against Lithuania. Last weekend, the 28-year-old midfielder was in the stands watching his side’s victory over Valencia (6-0).
Somewhat similarly, Yamal returned from the international break in a battered state, much to Hansi Flick’s dismay. The 18-year-old substitute is struggling with a pubic injury. Flick criticised the Spanish FA’s communication.
For the Blaugrana, the Champions League main stage kicks off at St. James’ Park. Newcastle recorded their first victory of the season last Saturday, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 thanks to a goal from towering new signing Nick Woltemade’s header.
