It doesn't look like Ethan Erhahon will be signing for Swansea anytime soon, contrary to reports
Swansea City's reported pursuit of Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon appears to have been shut down by director of football Richard Montague.
The Swans have certainly wasted no time in bolstering Alan Sheehan's squad this summer, getting some of their business done early with the additions of Hacken winger Zeidane Inoussa, ex-Bolton Wanderers centre-back Ricardo Santos and teenage Kilmarnock striker Bobby Wales.
With Real Madrid and Croatia legend Luka Modric now on board as a minority investor, there are more eyes than ever on the Swans, and they're expected to be even busier in the transfer market in the coming weeks and months.
Many reports have suggested that the next signing at the Swansea.com Stadium could be the aforementioned Erhahon, but comments from relatively new Swans director of football Montague appear to have quashed that.
Swansea have been linked with the Scottish midfielder for a number of weeks, with Alan Nixon reporting last weekend that they were closing in on a deal worth over £1 million for the 24-year-old Imps engine room operator, with add-ons also included in the deal.
However, this seems to have been shut down by Montague, who has insinuated that it has just been paper talk regarding Erhahon.
"We have talked about so many players and quite a lot have got to the point where we have spoken to agents or clubs," Montague told the BBC.
"There isn't anything concrete in that one."
With Montague's comments on Erhahon suggesting that they are not in the running for his services, it could open the door for other second tier sides to make their move for the defensive midfielder.
Lincoln have proven that they don't mind cashing in on their best players for the right price, and Erhahon is definitely someone that has already earned the chance to step up to the Championship this coming season.
If Lewis O'Brien does not return to Swansea after his loan stint from Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season, then Erhahon would've been a decent like-for-like replacement, but it isn't the end of the world that they are no longer in for him.
