Fricio Caicedo impressed on his Inter Miami debut, the 18-year-old Ecuadorian centre-back showing calm and presence in a 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew. Standing six-foot-four, he looked physically ready for the step up.
Interim coach Guillermo Hoyos started him and the teenager completed the full 90 minutes, recording 80 touches and a FotMob rating of 6.7. According to interheron.com, the Herons signed Caicedo on loan from Costa Rican side FC Moravia FCM in July through Major League Soccer's 2027 14-match 'sprint' season. He made 10 defensive contributions, two tackles, four clearances and four interceptions, completed 64 of 68 passes, 94 percent, and four of six long balls, 67 percent, and won two of four ground duels.
He had not played senior club football before arriving, making his professional bow for Inter Miami II in a 2-1 win over Toronto FC II on 25 July. He developed with LDU Quito and Ecuador's youth teams, then made his first senior Ecuador appearance in May.
There was one blot, a failed attempt to dribble between two Columbus defenders that ended in a turnover. Otherwise, his poise stood out.
Supporters are already picturing him alongside Brazilian newcomer Micael in central defence. The loan includes an option to buy, and while the sample size is small, performances like this could attract suitors.
