Sevilla’s late-season surge under Luis García Plaza has flipped relegation dread into calm and rekindled a faint tilt at Europe.
According to La Colina De Nervion, three straight wins, capped by a result at La Cerámica against Villarreal, have left them virtually safe, needing one point from Real Madrid at home and Celta Vigo away to confirm survival.
The turnaround followed a damaging loss at Osasuna’s El Sadar that dragged Sevilla into the bottom three with five matches to go. Victories over Real Sociedad, Espanyol and Villarreal then hauled them clear.
Míster Chip puts their relegation probability at 0.19%, implying a greater than 99.8% chance of staying up. By contrast, Elche sit at 45.4%, Levante 44.7%, Mallorca 42.8%, Girona 31%, with Alavés under Quique Sánchez Flores at 23.9%.
Attention has edged towards Europe. Champions League spots are already set, and Real Sociedad have Europa League via the Copa del Rey. That leaves two LaLiga berths, currently held by Celta on 50 and Getafe on 48.
Sevilla are on 43 and would need to beat Real Madrid and Celta, plus an Athletic slip and Getafe losing both. If Getafe earn one point, a 49-49 tie would hinge on overall goal difference, with head to head level, Getafe -6 to Sevilla -12.
The staff stress banking the survival point first. Even so, a win over Real Madrid, plus a Getafe stumble, would keep the dream alive to the final day. The Sánchez-Pizjuán will be primed on Sunday.
