  1. Man City have reportedly sent scouts to the Under-17 European Championships alongside many other clubs.
  2. Mikkel Bro Hansen, born in 2009, has made 12 appearances for Bodo/Glimt scoring seven goals.
  3. The highly-rated teenager possesses traits that compliment Enzo Maresca’s style, with the Italian set to be announced as the new City manager in the coming days.

Manchester City are one of several clubs tracking wonder-kid Mikkel Bro Hansen, and have scouts at the Under-17 European Championships, according to reports from Denmark.

The 17-year-old has become a star in Bodo/Glimt’s attack, making a total of 12 senior appearances for the club while scoring seven times and earning three assists across all competitions.

Bro Hansen is seen as one of Europe’s most gifted strikers at present and as such, it comes as no surprise to see him attract transfer interest from the world’s most prestigious football clubs.

His current deal at Bodo/Glimt, who beat the Citizens in the UEFA Champions League in January, is set to run out at the end of next season, which could open the door for Manchester City to sign him for a relatively low fee.

Man City’s battle for Bro Hansen

As reported by Tipsbladet, however, there is concurrent movement from Newcastle United, Chelsea, Juventus, and Ajax, who intend to sign the 2009-born centre-forward in the near future.

The Danish teenager is known for his elite positioning, technical versatility and clinical finishing in front of goal, traits which align with how Enzo Maresca is likely to shape his first Manchester City squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Maresca is set to replace Pep Guardiola, who won 17 major trophies at Manchester City during one of the most successful spells in football history, and thrives off positional play, utilising fluid formations to produce numerical advantages across different areas of the pitch.

Mikkel Bro Hansen, who has been capped 16 times for the Under-17 Denmark squad, would certainly provide more quality and depth to the Manchester City squad, be it in the academy at first or senior team.

Man City’s track record of youth development

And at only 17-years-old, he has the potential to grow into a generational talent, such as other Manchester City Academy products who have developed into some of the best players in the modern era of the Premier League

Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Jeremie Frimpong are just some of the names that have been etched into the City Academy’s portfolio, alongside Nico O’Reilly and Morgan Rogers – both of whom will be travelling to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with England.

Oscar Bobb: Cole Palmer to Chelsea gave me confidence to leave Manchester City

Mikkel Bro Hansen is undoubtedly a prospect to watch in the coming seasons and would be a great signing for Manchester City if they can pull it off for a cheap fee.

The job that sporting director Hugo Viana has already done since taking over from Txiki Begiristain in April of last year has improved City a lot, and makes for an exciting window ahead, where the club look set to spend.
