Crystal Palace have mapped four continental away days after a perfect Europa League start against Lech Poznań on 17 September, with trips set for Lyon, Istanbul, Białystok and Salzburg. This is a quick travel brief for the months ahead.
Palace visit Lyon on 15 October, facing Les Gones at the 59,186-capacity Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Décines-Charpieu. According to TheEaglesBeak.com, the city’s food scene and early cinema heritage add to the trip.
A week later comes Beşiktaş in Istanbul, one of the big three, at the 42,684-seat Tüpraş Stadyumu. The Bosphorus setting and the lively Çarşı district should provide a vivid backdrop in Türkiye.
Jagiellonia Białystok are the unfamiliar name, having reached last season’s Conference League play-offs after finishing 17th before losing to Fiorentina. Founded by the 42nd Infantry Regiment in May 1920, they play at the 22,372-capacity Chorten Arena and won their first league title in 2023/24.
Red Bull Salzburg complete the slate, where Oliver Glasner began as Roger Schmidt’s assistant from 2012 to 2014. Formerly SV Austria Salzburg before a 2005 rebrand, they play at the Red Bull Arena, which holds just over 30,000.
With a positive start against Poznań, there is reason to believe more European adventures may follow as the campaign progresses. If not, these four trips would still make a memorable set.
