Comparing Jack Clarke's Ipswich Town salary with what he earned at Sunderland
After dazzling in the Championship for Sunderland, wing wizard Jack Clarke made the switch from the Black Cats to Ipswich Town in the 2024 summer transfer window.
It was reported that the winger signed for the Tractor Boys in a deal worth £15 million, potentially rising to £20 million with add-ons.
Clarke did not have the top flight experience he was after though, as after registering four assists from 32 appearances in the Premier League, the Tractor Boys suffered relegation to the Championship.
To add insult to injury, Sunderland ended up replacing Town in the top flight, and Clarke is now back plying his trade in the Championship - watching on whilst he tries to get his new club back up at the first time of asking.
Here, we use estimated figures from Capology to see how Clarke’s wages have changed since making the change from Sunderland to Ipswich…

Clarke signed a contract with Ipswich until the summer of 2029 when he made the move from Sunderland in 2024.
He was a top performer for the Black Cats prior to his move to Portman Road, with the winger scoring 15 times in the league in his final full campaign with the club.
The winger’s impressive displays in the Championship earned him a move to the Premier League, as he agreed terms on a contract worth an estimated £25,000 per week.
While he is not the top earner at Ipswich, he still is in the top bracket, with Dara O’Shea receiving the most at £35,000-a-week in comparison.
Clarke was unable to cement himself as a consistent starter under McKenna in the top flight last year, but he still proved himself as capable of competing at that level.
Assists in games against Aston Villa, Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest gave him a tally of four for the Premier League campaign.
He also scored three and assisted two in the FA Cup in wins over Bristol Rovers and Blackburn Rovers.
Clarke is now competing for game-time with another expensive buy in the form of former Aston Villa attacker Jaden Philogene as Ipswich contend for promotion back to the Premier League once again.

Clarke initially signed for Sunderland on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2022 January transfer window, before completing a permanent deal the following summer for a bargain fee of £750,000.
The forward was an important part of the Black Cats sealing promotion from League One through the play-offs, before then earning another top six finish in their first campaign back in the Championship.
This earned him a contract with Sunderland that made him their top earner by the time of his departure at the end of 2023/24.
Clarke was estimated to be paid £16,923 per week, more than any other player in the squad, ahead of Daniel Ballard at £15,000-a-week.
Bradley Dack was also earning £15,000 per week from Sunderland, but he departed at the end of the campaign, while Ballard remained and played a key role in the club’s promotion to the top flight.
Clarke will now be hoping that he will make the step back up to English football's upper echelons next season, with the Black Cats positioned to remain in the Premier League beyond just one year after a positive first half of the term - both clubs therefore could meet again for the 2026-27 season.
