Luka Modrić did not mince words after AC Milan was held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Pisa, criticizing the team’s inability to capitalize on their first-half dominance. The Croatian star felt the Rossoneri failed to put the game to bed early, a lapse in concentration that ultimately cost them two vital points in the league.

Speaking to DAZN after the match, Modrić focused his frustration squarely on the missed opportunities and the team’s subsequent drop in intensity.

He said, via MilanNews: “We had to kill the game in the first half. We played well but only scored one goal.”

Modrić pointed to the second half as the moment where Milan’s focus wavered, allowing a weaker opponent back into the match.

“We started the second half in a sluggish way (molle), then there was the unfortunate penalty and the goal. But this is football, this is why it’s beautiful: even if you are stronger and deserve to win, anything can happen.”

Despite acknowledging the beauty and unpredictability of the game, the veteran made it clear that a club with Milan’s ambitions must secure three points in such home fixtures.

“We are sad and angry for having lost two precious points… We must win these home games. But let’s move forward.”

Winning today would’ve given Milan the chance to stay at the top of the table even after the gameweek. But Napoli and Inter have the chance to go beyond them.
