Fulham held defending champions Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Cody Gakpo missed a chance to give Liverpool an early lead, failing to hit the target in a promising position inside the penalty area.

Fulham scored with their first shot on target in the 17th minute, as former Liverpool prospect Harry Wilson drilled the ball into the far corner.

Liverpool reacted positively to going behind but were indecisive in the final third, while Fulham held firm to protect their lead until half-time.

Shortly after the restart, Gakpo guided the ball home from Milos Kerkez’s precise cross, but his effort was deemed offside.

Alexis McAllister thought he had levelled the scores with a well-placed header, only to be denied by the woodwork, much to the frustration of the Argentine.

The defending champions drew level before the hour mark following a brilliant work from Conor Bradley.

The right-back evaded his markers to get into the box and set up record signing Florian Wirtz, who guided the ball home.

Wilson came closest to restoring Fulham’s lead with a brilliant individual effort, taking advantage of Liverpool’s failure to deal with a ball over the top, but his effort hit the crossbar.

Gakpo thought he had given Liverpool a late winner when he prodded the ball home from Jeremy Frimpong’s cross, but Harrison Reed struck a stunning equaliser to salvage a point for the hosts.

The Reds remain unbeaten in nine games across all competitions and still sit fourth in the Premier League standings.
