Fulham have had a £20 million bid for Rennes centre-back Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal rejected, according to NY Times.

The bid fell well short of Rennes' valuation, but the west London side remain interested.

Fulham are weighing up whether to return with improved terms for the 20-year-old Morocco international, while remaining realistic about their chances and assessing other options.

Born in Marrakesh, Ait Boudlal joined Rennes in 2024 and has scored twice in 20 Ligue 1 appearances. He was not selected for the World Cup but did make Morocco's Africa Cup of Nations squad earlier this year.

Fulham have already added striker Gonzalo Garcia and midfielder Cesar Palacios from Real Madrid for a combined fee of €50m (£42.9m and $57.4m).

They were the first arrivals of the summer under former Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who replaced Marco Silva in the Fulham dugout this summer.

Fulham sold Issa Diop, another Morocco international centre-back, to Ipswich Town earlier this summer. Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez also left at the end of their contracts, subsequently joining Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
