Fulham ‘add’ Abel Ferreira to shortlist as Palmeiras stay relaxed | OneFootball

Abel Ferreira has been added to Fulham's list of options for their head coach vacancy, and Palmeiras do not feel under threat. According to Globo.com, the London club are assessing candidates after Marco Silva left for Benfica.

Fulham had identified Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town as their leading choice, but he opted for a sabbatical, frustrating those plans.

Other possibilities mentioned include compatriot Ruben Amorim, Hugo Oliveira of Famalicão, and Frank Lampard.

Palmeiras are yet to be contacted and the board remain at ease over European interest.

Ferreira has previously been linked with Tottenham, Wolverhampton, Everton and West Ham.

Al-Sadd of Qatar came closest, even suing over an alleged pre-contract breach, which was settled.

He has a contract to December 2027 and says he intends to see it out as a project coach. In May, president Leila Pereira said she would keep him until the end of her term.

There is no release clause in his deal, so any departure would be his decision, and he has given no indication he plans to leave early.

He is due to rejoin the squad on the evening of 21 June to start preparations for the second half of the year, with pressure for major titles after a frustrating 2025.

Palmeiras have won the state title this season, lead the league by seven points, and are in the last 16 of the Copa do Brasil and Conmebol Libertadores.
