Premier League side Fulham will be strong favourites to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup when they host League Two outfit Cambridge United on Tuesday.
Marco Silva’s men are in excellent form and remain unbeaten at Craven Cottage this season. The visitors, meanwhile, will be dreaming of causing a famous cup upset as they look to reach this stage of the competition for the first time since 1992.
Marco Silva has the rare luxury of a fully fit squad and is expected to rotate heavily following the weekend’s derby win. Several key players will likely be rested, giving opportunities to squad members like Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, and Raúl Jiménez.
Cambridge manager Neil Harris will be without forward Louis Appere, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Harris may opt to field a strong side as his team looks to test themselves against top-flight opposition, though their away form has been inconsistent.
The Cottagers are in superb form, having won back-to-back games, including an impressive 3-1 victory over rivals Brentford. Their home form is particularly formidable. They are unbeaten at Craven Cottage this season, have won their last three in a row there, and have kept two clean sheets in the process.
The U’s ended a two-match winless run with a 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town on Saturday. Their cup form has been encouraging, including a win over League One Charlton in the previous round. However, they have failed to win their last two matches on the road.
Fulham predicted XI: Lecomte; Tete, Diop, Cuenca, Sessegnon; Cairney, Reed; Traore, Wilson, Smith-Rowe; Jimenez.
Cambridge United predicted XI: Eastwood; Gibbons, Morrison, Watts, Purrington; Mpanzu, McLoughlin; Brophy, Kaikai, Mayor; Kouassi.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports+ in the UK. Coverage begins at 7:30 pm BST.
