Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign Fulham winger Harry Wilson on a free transfer when his contract expires on 30 June, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Fulham offered new terms, but Leeds have won the race for the Wales international amid interest from Aston Villa and Everton. Talks this week were positive and an agreement has now been struck.
Leeds pushed hard last summer and thought a deadline-day deal was done, only for it to collapse when Fulham’s part of the deal sheet was allegedly not completed in time. The London club were also working on a move for Chelsea teenager Tyrique George that day, which did not materialise. Wilson remained in SW6 and George later joined Everton in February.
Wilson then delivered a standout Premier League campaign with 10 goals and seven assists, earning Fulham’s Player of the Season. After his stoppage-time winner against Brighton in January, Marco Silva said the club had to do everything possible to keep him. Silva has since left for Benfica.
The winger’s outside-of-the-boot strike in a 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace won December’s Goal of the Month and made the Goal of the Season shortlist. A month earlier, his curler at Tottenham helped secure a 2-1 win.
Leeds finished 14th last season under Daniel Farke, while Fulham were 11th. Fulham are yet to appoint a successor to Silva, with Alvaro Arbeloa expected to take over.
