Full-back leaves Corinthians after contract ends: “Pride, sweat, eternal love”

The Corinthians Women's team had several farewells on January 1st, when contracts with the squad ended with the club. One of the departures was the right-back Paulinha, a historic name for the sport who ended her ten-year journey with the People's Team.

“Thank you SCCP! It was 10 years wearing this jersey with pride, sweat, and eternal love. I say goodbye to Corinthians, carrying each moment in my heart”, wrote the player in a temporary post on social media.

The right-back joined Corinthians in 2016 and was part of the club's women's football rebuilding process. Her first stint ended in June 2021, with a confirmed return at the beginning of 2022. Combining both periods, Paulinha played 256 matches wearing the black and white jersey, starting 182 of them, scored nine goals, and won 17 titles.

With the number of trophies lifted, the player ranks among the most successful athletes in the history of Corinthians women's football, only behind Gabi Zanotti and Vic Albuquerque, both with 18 titles for the club.

So far, Paulinha's next club has not been announced. Alongside the changes in the squad, Corinthians is working on assembling the group for the Copa das Campeãs, the FIFA Women's Club World Cup, which will take place between January and February.
