Liverpool have got one of the country’s hottest prospects surging through their academy ranks.
Josh Abe, 15, has ALREADY been called up to train with Arne Slot’s first team. But owing to his age the Reds cannot yet offer a professional contract to the Warrington-born winger.
That opens the door the possibility that Abe could be off elsewhere this summer. Liverpool will have a pathway in mind for the England underage talent - whose season was curtailed early due to a serious lower leg injury.
Abe’s talent has been too advanced to be contained in his own age group and he has already featured at Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League levels. He even has a hat-trick to his name at U18 level for the Reds.
The England U16 international right now is only permitted a scholar’s contract and won’t be eligible for a pro deal until he turns 17 next year.
That according to a report from Lewis Steele in the Daily Mail has thrown Abe’s immediate future at Anfield into jeopardy.
