Gabi Zanotti hits major milestones for Corinthians in Libertadores win

On the afternoon of last Saturday, October 12, Corinthians faced and defeated Boca Juniors from Argentina with a score of 4-0, in a match valid for the quarter-finals of the Women's Libertadores. The standout player of the match was the attacking midfielder Gabi Zanotti, who scored three times and reached important milestones.

With the outstanding performance against the Argentine team, the number 10 of Alvinegro Paulista reached six goals in the current edition of the Women's Libertadores, leading the top scorer ranking. The closest names are Valencia (Colo-Colo-CHI), with four goals, and Ámbar Torres (Independiente del Valle-EQU), who scored three times but has already been eliminated from the tournament.

With the hat-trick against Boca Juniors, Gabi Zanotti also became the top scorer for Corinthians this season, with 18 goals scored in 33 matches. Vic Albuquerque is the second top scorer with 14 goals.

This number, in fact, makes the attacking midfielder experience her most prolific year with the Corinthians jersey. Until now, her best season was in 2018, the year she joined, when she scored 17 goals in 36 matches.

Gabi Zanotti, in fact, joined Corinthians to play the role of number 10, setting up the team's attacking plays. It was only from 2023 that she started playing in a more advanced position.

Now, Zanotti and the rest of the Corinthians squad are preparing for the semi-final of the continental competition. The Brabas will face Ferroviária next Wednesday, October 15, at 8 PM (Brasília time), at Estádio Florencio Sola.
