Gabriel Gudmundsson has played down talk of Chelsea interest, insisting he is happy at Leeds United and focused on his football.

“I haven’t had a focus on it because there has been so much with Leeds, the World Cup and then I have become a father now so I have really zoned out from that part of football,” he said. “But it’s nice that they see me as an alternative and it’s a sign that something good has been done, then we’ll see what happens but I’m happy where I am.” He was speaking to Sport Witness.

The 27-year-old completed his first season at Leeds, which was extended by the World Cup with Sweden. He played all four matches before a 3-0 defeat to France in the last-32.

It capped a relentless year after a £10million move last July. He made 48 appearances for club and country and recently became a father.

He impressed at left-back, thriving as an attacking wing-back and quickly won over Elland Road.

“Hand on heart I can say that the Leeds fans are the best in England and they have supported us in a really good way this season. I don’t think you understand how big the club is until you are in it.”
