Gabriel Mec is getting more game time with Grêmio this season and, according to Globo.com, is on the verge of another European offer as he awaits a longer run in the starting line-up.

He has made 11 appearances under Luís Castro, three from the start, including Atlético-MG at the Arena when Monsalve and Willian were out.

He expected to start the subsequent Gre-Nal, but Castro, aiming to shield him from pressure, chose the fit-again Monsalve instead.

Despite his reserve status, his 2026 form has earned a Brazil under-20 call-up for two friendlies against Paraguay in São Paulo on Saturday and Monday. He will join fellow Grêmio midfielder Tiaguinho.

Members of his camp are set to travel to Europe to prospect offers, and he is being monitored by clubs in Portugal and England, including Liverpool. Castro has expressed internally he wants Mec to stay until year-end, though a July sale is not ruled out if the terms suit Grêmio.

Shakhtar Donetsk bid 15 million euros late last year, accepted by the previous board but rejected by the player. Club and camp aim to increase any fee, with 2026 viewed as pivotal if he makes the most of further chances.

Mec is following a tailored conditioning plan alongside team sessions, with six specialists covering physical and cognitive work. The focus is strength and power, and there is a view he needs two more years to reach his physical and technical peak.
