Gabriel Menino keen to stay at right-back, dreams of Santos title | OneFootball

Gabriel Menino has underlined his desire to stay at right-back for Santos after the 4-2 win over Universidad Central (VEN) at Vila Belmiro on Tuesday. The number 25 says he is developing in the role and enjoying his current form.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Cuca has used him there since the season resumed after the World Cup, a change the player had already welcomed as he pursues a return to the Brazil squad in that position.

Menino was among the standouts against UCV, contributing regularly to Santos’s build-up play. He thanked his team-mates for their effort, admitted the position is not easy and said he is improving day by day.

Signed to play in midfield, he has earned opportunities at right-back and Cuca has praised his versatility, viewing him as one of the solutions for the role. Menino added that he is focused on a strong year at the club and that lifting a trophy at Vila Belmiro remains a childhood dream.

His goal against Universidad Central took him to 19 appearances, four goals and one assist this season. Santos now turn to the Copa do Brasil, facing Remo on Saturday the first at 21:00 at Vila Belmiro in the first leg of the last 16.
