Gabriel Paulista was left with a large swelling on his forehead after an elbow from Carrillo during Corinthians’ Conmebol Libertadores quarter-final first leg at Estudiantes. The incident occurred in La Plata on Wednesday night, inside the first minute of the second half.
According to Globo.com, the centre-back stayed down but was able to continue. The referee awarded only a foul, with no card shown to the Estudiantes forward.

The decisive second leg is next Wednesday at Neo Química Arena.
The winner will face Independiente Del Valle of Ecuador or Flamengo in the semi-final.
Before that, Fernando Diniz’s side visit Flamengo on Sunday at the Maracanã in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
