Rodrigo Garro’s goal in Corinthians’ 3-1 defeat to Botafogo on Sunday, in the 16th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, sealed his first run of three consecutive goal contributions for the club.
It is the third such streak of his professional career. According to Meu Timao, the run underlines the Argentine midfielder’s fine form at Parque São Jorge.
The first came with Talleres in 2022, between July and August, when he posted two goals and two assists against San Lorenzo, Vélez Sarsfield and Argentinos Juniors.
The second, also for Talleres, stretched to five matches in 2023, again between July and August, yielding two goals and three assists against Huracán twice, River Plate, Gimnasia La Plata and Newell's Old Boys.
Garro’s current sequence began with an assist in the 3-2 win over São Paulo in the league. He then set up the only goal in the 1-0 victory against Barra in the Copa do Brasil, before scoring in the loss to Botafogo.
Since Fernando Diniz took charge in early April, Garro has produced one goal and eight assists in 11 appearances, marking the best start to a season of his career by goal involvements.
He is available for Thursday’s trip to Peñarol of Uruguay, a 21:30 kick-off at the Campeón Del Siglo in the Copa Libertadores group stage, round five.
