Garro joins Corinthians in Santos for Alvinegro derby in Paulistão

In the late afternoon of this Wednesday (21), Corinthians arrived in Baixada Santista aiming for the derby against Santos on Thursday night (22), at 7:30 p.m. (Brasília time), at Vila Belmiro, for the fourth round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. Currently, the Alvinegro is in seventh place with four points earned – only the top eight advance to the knockout stage.

The Corinthians delegation, with 25 players, arrived at the hotel in Santos around 6 p.m. (Brasília time). The main news was the presence of midfielder Rodrigo Garro among those listed. The number 8 has not yet played in the 2026 season, as he was recovering from surgery on his left wrist. Initially, the expectation was to have the player available only on February 1, for the final of the Supercopa do Brasil, against Flamengo, at Mané Garrincha Stadium, in Brasília.

For the match against Santos, Dorival Júnior’s coaching staff will not be able to count on: defender Cacá, who is recovering from an injury to the left oblique muscle, midfielder José Martínez, still in Venezuela waiting for the reissuance of his passport so he can finally return to Brazil, and forward Memphis Depay, who continues muscle rebalancing work and yesterday had his first on-field session of 2026. The number 10 is expected to be available only for the Supercopa final.

In addition, defender Renato, midfielder Alex Santana, and forward Héctor Hernández continue training separately from the Corinthians squad while their new destinations are being decided. Right-back Pedro Milans, 23 years old, was announced this Wednesday (21), but is not yet available to Dorival Júnior to make his debut.
