Gunners could be trailing Manchester City next weekend

Back-to-back defeats, first at home to Bournemouth and then away at Manchester City, have hit the Gunners’ title hopes hard.

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League, but are no longer favourites to lift the trophy after goals from Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland saw City earn a huge win on Sunday.

City have been top of the table for just six days since the season started last August, but can leapfrog Arsenal with victory at Burnley on Wednesday evening.

They will present a five-game shootout between City and Arsenal in the title-race run-in.

Arsenal have a kinder run-in on paper, but Neville believes they could drop points against next weekend when they face Newcastle.

The stadium was extremely nervous during the defeat to Bournemouth, who took the lead before being pegged back and then went on to record a famous victory.

Neville believes more nerves will again be on show next weekend and play their detrimental part.

"I think next Saturday night against Newcastle presents a lot of danger,” he said on Sky Sports.

"Arsenal played well today. They couldn't come here and freeze, and didn’t.

"But the nerves inside that stadium [the Emirates]… if Arsenal don't start well next weekend, or if Newcastle get an early goal [Arsenal can drop points]."

"Next Saturday night is imperative that Arsenal get over the line ... that that tension will still be there next Saturday night. Arsenal have to cope with that and come through it. That's the chance."

He later said: “For the first time this season, I’m going to say City will win the title.”

Roy Keane added: "City have been the best team in this country by far, for the past six, seven or eight years, and while playing under pressure."
