Gasperini confesses: “First time I didn’t watch the penalty.” | OneFootball

Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to Sky Sport at full-time of Roma’s comeback win against Parma.

The Italian coach discussed the team’s performance as well as Paulo Dybala’s future.

“It’s true, everything happened. I think the fans enjoyed themselves; the match was truly top-notch. We had a great first half, we conceded a few too many counterattacks, but we played well in every way.”

“Then we faced Parma, who equalized early in the second half. The team was in great shape and put up a great fight. It was a tough match; we turned it around in the final minutes, but we had plenty of chances.”

“Paulo Dybala’s comments on his future? I don’t know, there’s still a week before the derby. Dybala was also excellent today, returning after a long time away and he definitely gave us quality. It’s a shame we didn’t have him for so long this season.”

“The key plays of the game? Rensch’s goal and the penalty. In terms of the result, it changed the game. We certainly played a great first half. After a fairly clear mistake like the one at the start of the second half that led to their goal, it’s not easy to regain all the energy to get back in front against a team that’s doing so well like Parma and that started with danger and physicality. We had great spirit; this team has been extraordinary in that respect since the start of the year.”

In his post-match with DAZN, Gasperini confessed, “I’ve rarely had the chance to go from 2-1 to 2-3. This is also a record; it’s the first time I didn’t see the penalty. I was watching the fans, but there was a scoreboard showing it live, and I saw it anyway.”
