Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini addressed the rumors linking him with Roma.
The second edition of the TELENORD – Gianni Di Marzio National Award took place in Portofino, an event that brought together leading figures in Italian football. Among those present were Roberto Mancini, Cristiano Giuntoli and Gian Piero Gasperini.
The latter, awarded for his work in Bergamo, commented with irony on the market rumors that link him to Roma, currently led by Claudio Ranieri.
“Roma? It’s not possible because there’s a coach who’s too good and maybe he’ll change his mind…”
“What Roma did for Ranieri was beautiful,” he added.
“Atalanta? The renewal is not crucial, I have a contract with Atalanta. As Luca Percassi said, there is such harmony between us that there will be no problems between us. Then there is football in the middle and unlike other years what Atalanta did will not be easy to repeat and this worries me.”
“It is not so obvious. It was a really difficult season, look at Inter or Napoli last night. More than thinking about the points we lost, it is the ones we made that convince me of the quality of our league.”
“We will evaluate what the possibilities will be, as always Atalanta must look at the balance sheets and there will be departures, it depends on which ones. It will not be easy to repeat.”
