Paulo Dybala’s future at Roma continues to dominate the spotlight.
After the win against Parma, the Argentine striker revealed that the derby against Lazio could be his last match at the Olimpico in a Giallorossi jersey, leaving fans with a major question mark.
Dybala’s contract is expiring, and despite his positive performance in today’s match, his permanence in the capital is still uncertain.
Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini commented on Dybala’s comments both to Sky Sport and in a press conference.
Responding to Paulo’s possible departure, Gasperini said: “Did he say that? Who knows, but I don’t know. There’s still a week to go and the derby will arrive. Paulo was also excellent today, returning after a long time away, and he definitely gave us quality. It’s a shame we didn’t have him for so long this season.”
In a press conference, Gasperini added: “Dybala said something specific: he said it could be his last game. This is something between the owners and the player. I’d be happy to have him back next year. I saw him well, but unfortunately he was out for three months with an injury. Dybala doesn’t just have technique, he has unique muscle fiber. At the end of the game he was still fresh and making quality plays.”
Gasperini’s statements reflect a desire to confirm Dybala’s permanence, but as always in these cases, the final decision will rest with the club and its negotiations with the player. Meanwhile, Roma is preparing for the derby with hopes of securing a Champions League spot, but with Dybala’s future still shrouded in uncertainty.
