The Giallorossi coach focused on Roma’s reaction after the San Siro clash, as they raced for fourth place: “We’ve believed in fourth place since the beginning of the year. The critics didn’t consider us to be that objective, but for our own satisfaction, we’re giving it our all.”

Gasperini then returned to Ranieri’s pre-match comments: “I’m satisfied and happy with the impact I’ve had with the team. There’s great unity; those who play less can’t be overjoyed, but everyone played anyway. Some are having a great run. We’re trying to finish it in the best possible way.”

Regarding the Atalanta model, the Grugliasco-born coach said: “There are six matchdays left, there are priorities. We shouldn’t look at Atalanta as a reference; they were a strong team that finished fourth straight away, but in the Champions League, three places were missing. With strong teams, especially in a major club like Roma, everything comes naturally.”

Regarding Malen’s impact, Gasperini said: “You can’t predict a player’s impact with his cards hidden, but I was absolutely sure of his characteristics. There isn’t just one type of center forward; I never had any doubts that he could express his potential through the middle, not out wide.”

The coach also commented on his initial impressions after Pellegrini’s injury: “It’s a tough blow. He was in good form, and he was unlucky with the post and the injury. He went over after the contact, but at first glance it doesn’t seem serious. I hope we can get Wesley, Mancini, and Soulé back at full capacity, as they are very important. Dybala won’t be easy to have on Saturday.”
