Roma won the Rome derby against Lazio 2-0 thanks to a brace from Gianluca Mancini.

The Giallorossi temporarily sit fourth in the table after Spalletti’s Juventus collapsed at home to Fiorentina (0-2).

At the end of the derby, Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to DAZN, connecting with Allegri as he finished his interview: “We still have 90 minutes to play in a wonderful league with so many teams in close proximity. We’re happy because Sunday depends on us, not our opponents. We have a week to achieve a goal we’ve been desperate for.”

The Giallorossi coach urged caution, while celebrating today’s result against Lazio: “We were hoping someone would slip up, but we did well to focus on our own game, which was difficult against a top-class Lazio side. We broke the deadlock with a set piece and then did better in the second half. Well done, lads. It’s a tough match, but we can’t get carried away. Sunday is the last match of this incredible run. It would be a wonderful achievement for us.”

Gian Piero Gasperini praised Gianluca Mancini: “Today he scored a brace in the derby that will remain indelible in his career.”

The Giallorossi coach complimented the team, which has remained united throughout the season: “This team has many captains, a solid group. I’ve never had any problems managing training sessions and matches. We’ve gone through few difficult moments; let’s say the 3-3 draw with Juventus was one, but it gave us the confidence that we have quality and the ability to score. We scored with many different players and we’ve started to win games.”

Gasperini is confident about Paulo Dybala’s permanence: “That’s next week’s matter. The ownership is there, and that makes everything easier because there are immediate answers. The club and the player are there, and I’d be happy for him and many others. We’ve overcome the problem of having so many players whose contracts are expiring who were good at sticking with Roma, and that should be noted. We won the derby, but we haven’t reached the goal yet, but my opinion of these guys remains unchanged.”
