Gian Piero Gasperini has clarified his strategy for Roma’s future: maintain the current core of the squad and then bring in quality signings.
According to Il Tempo, the coach’s position is clear: “This is a good team that shouldn’t be dismantled, but rather improved.”
The coach has already given the green light to keep Lorenzo Pellegrini, Zeki Celik, and Paulo Dybala, despite the latter’s physical challenges.
Conversely, Stephan El Shaarawy’s time at the Giallorossi appears set to end when his contract expires in three months.
The plan also involves Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante. Both are tied to the club until 2027, but management is working to confirm them with a new agreement.
Along with Pellegrini, they represent the leaders of a group that divides public opinion between those who criticize them for their league finishes and those who recognize their impact in recent European matches.
The main issue remains the renewal of the number 7. The club intends to offer Pellegrini a contract worth approximately €2 million per season, a figure far lower than the €4.5 million fixed salary (plus €2 million in bonuses) he currently earns.
This move is part of the Friedkins’ plan to reduce the wage bill, seeking a balance between financial needs and Gasperini’s technical demands.
