Nine Lazio loanees are due back this summer, but only Christos Mandas and Romano Floriani Mussolini are likely to stay. Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the pair are tipped to be reinstated in Gennaro Gattuso’s squad, barring late market twists.
Gattuso has identified Mandas as his preferred first-choice goalkeeper for next season, with Ivan Provedel expected to complete a move to Inter Milan in the coming days.
The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, who declined to trigger their €17.5 million option. The Cherries attempted to renegotiate, but Lazio rejected the proposal.
Floriani Mussolini returns after Cremonese chose not to keep him beyond his loan. The 23-year-old could compete with Adam Marusic at right-back. Elseid Hysaj has already departed, while Manuel Lazzari is on the transfer list and could join Monza.
Seven others will be sent out again, including Mohamed Fares, who has one year left on his contract. The standout is 23-year-old striker Gabriele Artistico, after an impressive season at Spezia in Serie B, who could join newly promoted Frosinone.
Also returning are Filipe Bordon, Alessandro Milani, Leonardo Di Tommaso, Davide Renzetti and Pietro Pinelli. Lazio will seek new destinations for the group.
